Lancaster architect Henry Y. Shaub designed this building in an Art Deco style ca. 1930. During this same era he also created an Art Deco façade for the Shaub Shoe Store on North Queen Street. His father, John Shaub, started that shoe business ca. 1880.
Architect Shaub also designed Lancaster’s McCaskey High School in an Art Deco style ca. 1936.
This commercial building was originally used as a women’s clothing store, as it is today. In the 1930s, during the Depression, the store passed through various owners, including Carolyn G. Wiker followed by Lillian Reynolds.
This building has reeded pilasters capped with ornamental blocks, plus carved blocks in the facade’s upper corners. The first floor has been altered with a walkthrough corner passageway.
