This towering townhouse was built in 1891 for newspaper publisher Henry Baumgardner Cochran and wife Alma (Shreiner) Cochran. Mr. Cochran was prominent in Lancaster business and civic life. He was a co-owner of the Lancaster Examiner newspaper. He also was a city councilman and commissioner of the streets department. He helped organize the Hamilton Watch Company and the Edison Electric Company.
The Queen Anne-style house features a polygonal tower with a tented roof. There is a pedimented cross gable. The façade has ornate corbelled brickwork. There is detailed carved bracketing on the porch.
