In the 1890s this brick rowhouse was home to veterinary surgeon William H. Cline and wife Mary (Eckman) Cline. Friends called him “Doc” and called her “Nellie.”
Mr. Cline also was renowned as an inventor. His inventions include a device for removing soot from coal smoke, and a trolley device for indicating the passing street names.
The house was built ca. 1851. The architecture includes pedimented dormers with arched upper sash and a dentilled cornice. 37 North Shippen Street Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
